This bass has a nice little piece of history associated with it and marks the end of an era. It’s THE VERY LAST California Series 1 bass to come out of Sandbergs workshop so we decided it ought to be a bit of a ‘looker’ and specified a beautiful Cocobolo top. The bass was ordered in September 2015 so its taken a while to reach us. As folk will know by now, Sandberg re-designed the shape of the California basses in 2015, moving them away from being ‘Fender’ accurate.
The TM5 is an especially versatile set up in that it can be operated in either active or passive mode and it can be run as a 2x single coil pickup configuration or single coil at the neck and humbucker at the bridge, courtesy of the coil-tap switch.
We’re always going on about the superb quality and value of these handbuilt basses, their great playability and top-notch tones… so we’re not going to mention it again here!
