Handbuilt 5 string bass from the USA in virtually unused mint condition (the owner decided that 5 string bass isn’t his thing afterall - cost £1999 new in Dec 2014).
Roscoe have been around for some 25 years in the States and have built a reputation for building fine custom basses. These ‘kinder price’ Century models are built with the same attention to detail as the full blown custom models but dispense with fancy wood tops and other such adornments that push the price skywards without fundamentally adding anything to the bass’s playabilty or sonic qualities.
What’s on offer here is a bass with an excellent range of useable active tones - big bottom end, clear and punchy mids and detailed (without being harsh) highs. Swamp ash is surely the best all-round, even, tone-wood available and it looks great too.
