The Tribute models were introduced in 2004 as exactly that… a tribute to each of their California-built models but at a more affordable pricepoint. Whilst assembled in Asia they feature the same electronics and hardware as the US models. By comparison, other manufacturers ‘more affordable’ basses tend to use lower spec components than their premium models.
G&L basses are the third and final part of Leo Fenders ‘holy trinity’ of Fender, Musicman and G&L and are, according to him, the best instruments he ever built. Evolutionary improvements over his Fender basses were the Saddle-lock bridge (probably the best sustaining bridge in the business) and the MFD humbucking pickups with their versatility and power, both in active or passive operation. G&L basses are truly the ‘Swiss Army’ bass when it comes to tone…..they cover it all, across any musical genre.
