G&L SB1 Bass Guitar
£1,795.00
First launched in 1982 The G&L SB1 Bass Guitar is the spellbinding alternative to the well-known P Bass produced by the other American brand that shares Leo’s name. This newly arrived SB1 has an upgraded premier finish which means a swamp ash body and a whisky coloured high gloss finish.
It didn’t take long for this first edition to become the classic thundering bass we know and love today, by 1985 developments brought an MFD split-coil humbucking pickup and pickguard. In some way, the G&L SB1 Bass Guitar set the stage for several G&L models to come: Leo took a classic design and applied his core improvements, in this case, the MFD pickup and Saddle Lock bridge. The specially developed pickups produce more gusto without sacrificing detail or finesse, Leo truly did take bring a majestic reinterpretation of a classic design which delivers all the tone and feel you’d expect in a “Latter Day Leo” instrument.
In recent weeks G&L have been proud to announce the addition of the renowned Dan Lutz to its artist stable demonstrating again the quality and capability of this professional grade instrument.
Dan says “In my work, versatility is key, and that’s something I love about my G&L SB1. It’s a modern P-bass from Leo Fender himself, so it can cover that familiar ground and more. It can be more powerful than a P yet has a more articulate top end. Of the dozens of basses I’ve owned, this has to be among the best I’ve ever felt.”
