Rob Elrick is based in Chicago and started building basses in 1993 and has become one of the USA’s top custom builders.
The Expat range is handbuilt in Europe (Czech Republic we believe) with USA supplied wood and components to a very high standard at a great price.
These basses have huge tonal flexibilty and a lovely ‘acoustic brightness’ that is detailed and rich in overtones and it weighs in at just over 8lbs which is quite amazing for a 5 string. The bass was bought 2 months prior to it coming to us and to all intents and purposes its in ‘as new’ condition.. a ‘minter’ as they say!
