…the Sandberg California TT+ Fretless

Sandberg has recently steered the design of its California series bodies away from being ‘Fender accurate’ which will appeal to some folk and not others.

This fretless TT4 passive (Jazz) model has the old (Fender) body shape and is specified with an ebony fingerboard upgrade. Its brand new and we’re offering it at the special price of £1000 for a limited time only.

Sandberg’s California series takes the classics and improves them in a number of areas: Bridge design, body to neck connection and, arguably, in the pickup department. And… we may have mentioned it before: the hand-shaped and finished necks are sublime.

Here’s a quick rundown of new products (including California models), finishes and updates that will feature at the Musikmesse show in Frankfurt in April. We thought you guys deserved a sneak preview!

We’ve lowered our prices on all Markbass products in line with Markbass’s own price re-structuring and the effect of the weakening Euro against the Pound. Our prices are once again ‘competative’ but reflect the fact that we are a ‘come along and try the product’ destination as opposed to a remote internet retailer.

We can offer this model in pretty much any custom colour, hi-gloss or satin stained. It employs the same G-S custom humbuckers (split-able) as the G-S Gryphon bass so it packs the same ‘mighty wallop’. Prices are £895 for the gloss finish, £849 satin stain finish.

With the new Gordon-Smith ‘Baby’ Gryphon we’ve managed (still not quite sure how) to offer a British hand built bass for under 700 quid! It is a simplified version of its full-blown sibling but does not compromise on the key G-S attributes of great playability and great tone.

The first one is offered in that classic Fender colour, Daphne Blue but customers can order the bass in pretty much any colour with rosewood or maple fingerboard. Given the number of basses these days with complex electronics this is a fun and refreshing instrument to play. P-Bass players will understand that!

Just a ‘heads up’ that all but one (in black) have been pre-purchased and the next ones are 6 or more months away.

GBBL is to become an official Rickenbacker Dealer and has placed orders for all current models plus the forthcoming new 4003S.

As folks will be aware, RIC availability in the UK has all but dried up but they are building again and a new supply of instruments is expected to hit these shores in spring.

We are, in the interim, in a position to take orders for RIC basses and accessories or just offer general advice as necessary. If you are seriously in the market for a new RIC we advise you to get an order in as new supplies won’t hang around long. Rickenbacker don’t build instruments all year round - only on an ‘as and when basis’ hence the supply starvation.
