One from my own personal collection and possibly the most resonant bass I’ve ever played. One or two customers will testify to that!
These Taiwanese built Yamaha’s are superb (I have 2 others!) and fantastic value relative to what you can pick one up for. They just sound more vintage and ‘darker’ than their modern replacement the BB614 and they are super-versatile in that they have both active & passive operation. Yamaha have included a passive tone control which is really useful and effective when the preamp is bypassed. Even in passive mode its a thunderous Blues-Rock machine.
The neck is pure P-bass territory in terms of width but a tad slimmer in the depth. Its a particularly great bass for fingerstyle playing and its what I turn to when I put my pick away and get my fingers out! To hear it in action visit www.soundcloud.com/new-england/white-lady
