Alembic Omega 20th Anniversary Ltd Edition
Rare opportunity to acquire serial number 106/200 of this Limited 20th Anniversary run Omega model. The instrument is in very clean condition with light fret wear.. there is just some light tainting on the brass bridge unit and truss rod cover plate at the bottom of the neck. The original fitted case is included in the sale although this has seen some ‘action’ and is a little tatty in places. In the case is Alembics ‘Electronics Analysis’ sheet with a full description of all the control functions and tone options, including how to run it in stereo mode sending the sound from each pickup to a separate amp/bass rig.
The build quality and level of workmanship on these basses is stunning with multi-ply laminates/veneers to the front and rear headstock facings. No..it won’t make you play any better but if you appreciate the obsessive pursuit of perfection then these considerations are important.
The ‘Q’ filters are, in effect active/passive selection switches. With the ‘Q’ switches on/down, a distinctive ‘wah-wah’ sound can be heard when changing the tone settings while sustaining a note. With the ‘Q’ switches off/up, the tone filters act much the same as passive tone controls.
This is not only a very desirable instrument but an important piece of Alembic history and bass building history in general.
