ACG Krell Custom
Another stunning Krell handbuilt by Alan to our specification… we’re thinking of putting ‘made in USA’ on these and doubling the price!
Not only is this a sublime looking and playing British bass but, as with all ACGs it embodies some fairly unique features such as flat (zero radius fingerboard) and asymmetric neck which just falls into the hand so well. This one doesn’t have the filtered preamp but it does have the ACG/John East P-retro preamp which is a gem… it’s easy to use and offers a wide range of tonal options, especially in active mode. Not only are there the various pickup combinations courtesy of the 4-way rotary switch but there is the option to boost and change the mid-frequencies for extra punch/attack… something we find particularly useful & usable.
It is of course possible to have more ‘bells & whistles’ on a bass (we’re talking decoration that has no function) but it is nigh-on impossible to fault the build and finish quality of ACG instruments. Their star is rising and the rostrum of ACG converts is growing ever bigger which means that, inevitably, they won’t sell for this sort of money forever!
